Sir,

With reference to my despatch No. 190 of

the 14th November last, I have the honour to enclose

a translation of a further letter from the

Commissioner for Foreign Affairs presenting an

additional list of claims in respect of the naval

punitive expedition against the pirate villages

) and rulai (

of Taipinghu

).

1 do not think that the Canton Government

expect this demand to be taken seriously and I

do not propose to send a reply. Should a reply

be pressed for, I will refer to my letter to the

Commissioner for Foreign Affairs of the 27th

October 1927.
